The KOTESOL Multimedia and Computer-Assisted Language Learning Special Interest Group (MCALL SIG) is a dynamic community dedicated to the exploration and integration of multimedia and computer-assisted methods and resources in language education. Our members, a mix of seasoned educators and enthusiastic innovators, are deeply engaged in utilizing technology to create better, more effective learning experiences.
What We Do:
- Collaborative Learning: We share best practices, resources, and insights on integrating educational technology in language teaching. The MCALL SIG reading list is a growing list of publications recommended by and for SIG members on the subject of educational technology. Additions to the list are always welcome. The MCALL SIG also frequently collaborates with sister organizations like the Japan-based JALTCALL SIG to connect KOTESOL members with like-minded educators around the world.
- Interactive Workshops and Webinars: The MCALL SIG regularly hosts panel discussions and workshops in the KOTESOL National Conference and International Conference each year. Additional events focusing on the latest tools, trends, and methodologies in multimedia and computer-assisted language learning. One of the best ways to hone your skills is to try and teach others. MCALL SIG members are encouraged to participate in at least one KOTESOL or SIG event per year.
- Research and Development: As emerging technologies push the limits of education beyond the classroom, MCALL SIG members share their experiences with one another in an effort to stay informed on new resources and developing trends.
Get Involved:
- Community Engagement: Join our discussions and share your experiences on our Facebook page. Facebook currently serves as our central hub for ideas, queries, and announcements. Tech Briefs is the MCALL SIG's online publication where any member can submit a review of a tool or resource to share their insights with the KOTESOL community.
- Event Coordination: We're always looking for fresh ideas and hands-on involvement in organizing events. Your suggestions and volunteer efforts are invaluable to our growth and outreach.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with peers, experts, and enthusiasts in the field. The MCALL SIG is not just a group but a network of professionals committed to educational innovation.
