Reflective Language Teacher Award

Reflective practice and reflective inquiry authority Dr. Thomas S.C. Farrell has initiated the annual Reflective Language Teacher Award, with the inaugural award presented at the 2019 Korea TESOL International Conference in Seoul.

KOTESOL Membership Requirements
ㅡ Nominee must be current member of KOTESOL
ㅡ Nominee must have been a member for at least 6 months prior to the application deadline.
ㅡ Nominee must be related to the field of second language teaching.

Nominations
Nominations may be made by each active KOTESOL chapter and the Reflective Practice SIG (one nomination per group).

Along with the name of their nominee, the nominating group may wish to include a description of the outstanding reflective practice attributes of that nominee. This description may include such things as the following:
ㅡ What reflective practice the nominee has done for personal professional development.
ㅡ How the nominee’s reflective practice has had an impact on their teaching and classes.
ㅡ What the nominee has done to promote reflective practice within KOTESOL and/or the greater language-teaching community.

The description may be accompanied by website addresses and/or attachments of files that are representative of the nominees reflective work. 

Submission Deadline
Submission of nominations and accompanying information may be made at any time prior to the submission deadline. That deadline is approximately one month before the international conference start date. (For the 2024 award, the deadline is March 31.) Results will be announced at the 2024 international conference.

Award
The award recipient will receive the following:
ㅡ Three (3) autographed books on reflective practice by the author, Dr. Thomas Farrell.
ㅡ Opportunity for a reflective practice article featured in The English Connection (TEC) or in KOTESOL Happenings.
ㅡ Free registration to the KOTESOL International Conference.
ㅡ An award certificate from Korea TESOL and award sponsor Dr. Thomas Farrell.
