The Reflective Practice SIG (RP-SIG) encourages teachers to reflect constructively on their practice.
In short, we:
- ask questions about teaching & learning
- look objectively at our teaching practices
- evaluate classroom procedures
- develop strategies for change
- seek to understand the complexities of our experience
It doesn't matter if you teach young learners or adults. It doesn't matter whether you teach in the public or private sector. Whatever your specific situation or context, you can make critical reflection a part of your routine.
RP-SIG meetings offer spaces for teachers to recall, share, and discuss their successes and difficulties and consider future directions for teaching practice. As a SIG, we aim to benefit teachers and students in English education.
As of 2023, we meet regularly online on the first Wednesday of each month. We get together on Zoom from 8-9 pm and have informal discussions on a planned theme or issue.
