What is FedEx Day???
The aim of a FedEx Day is to complete something deliverable within a 24 hour period. This enforced deadline is how the event gets its name; it mimics the bold, even revolutionary promise of an overnight delivery by the US-based courier FedEx. The idea here is that if you can’t make the deadline, at least make the effort. (There may be a chance to complete the project later.) FedEx Day is similar in spirit to Google’s 20% time, also known as Innovation Time Off, which offers Google employees the chance to pursue their own interests as long as the workers are in some way able to align their pet projects with the goals of the company.
Additional goals of a FedEx Day include:
- to foster creativity
- to scratch itches
- to test out temporary or novel ideas
- to have fun unfettered by the usual, even hum-drum restrictions of work
The work produced during a FedEx day program culminates in the presentation of the projects the next day. The participants should factor in some time to test their deliverables beforehand as the presentations are intentionally fast-paced so as to capture and hold the attention of the audience members.

Schools Emailing List
Join me to develop as many email contacts as possible for various schools (hagwons, high schools, middle schools, universities) so that we can send info about KOTESOL events as widely as possible (and free!) that way. Each of us can work from home or where-ever, we just choose which aspect we want to work on (and how much time we choose to work) - geographical areas, school types, whichever.
Very useful
I think this would be very useful for KOTESOL to have
Chapter Meeting Presenters Pool
I would like to be part of a team working to develop a repository of KOTESOL presenters who have presented at a chapter meeting or related event, have given an outstanding presentation, and may be available to present at other chapters' events. Chapters are often looking for presenters for their upcoming events and could probably provide better programming if they were better informed of who and what was available. We could work on how we could best gather and disseminate this information, where we could best store it, and who could provide it and access it.
sounds like a great project
I look forward to seeing what you can manage to pull together.
Job recommendation pool?
This one could be a tricky one. Since KOTESOL is a network of 760 people, perhaps we could have a pool of people (at the Korean and international level) with their job affiliations and some kind of program (perhaps on a volunteer basis) where people could list their job affiliation so they could be contacted by prospective employees and eventually recommended for jobs. I would greatly benefit from such a program since most jobs I apply to tend to put my resume in the trash bin after seeing my name and citizenship (those who know me will understand). Recommendations from people who know other people and appreciate their work would be great, since most hagwons/universities/companies like it when staff recommend people for jobs anyway. I'm not sure it's a great idea. I guess it's worth discussion.
I look forward to seeing what you pull together
I think this is a great Idea with a lot of potential.
