Abstract
AI-based English communication services are becoming increasingly prevalent in Japanese business settings, where English serves as a crucial lingua franca. English presents substantial challenges for Japanese speakers due to significant differences. This study aims to examine the impact of AI on cross-cultural communication in Japan, focusing on its influence on multimodality and the use of English as a lingua franca.

About the Presenter
Saeko Ozawa Ujiie is an international business consultant. Previously, she worked at Morgan Stanley, UBS, and Merrill Lynch in London, New York, and Silicon Valley. Saeko holds an MBA from Kellogg School, Northwestern University; an MA from the University of California, Berkeley; and a BA from Waseda University. She has held adjunct and visiting professor positions at universities in Japan.
