Seoul Chapter Elections - Call for nominations
Seoul Chapter is the largest chapter in KOTESOL and this is your opportunity to become more involved. KOTESOL is an organization run entirely by volunteers and it relies on people who are committed to the ideals of improving English Language Teaching in Korea.
On March 30th 2013 at the Seoul Regional Conference, the Seoul Chapter membership will elect a President, 1st Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary who will then form the Executive Committee of the Chapter. The Executive Committee is responsible for organizing Chapter events, managing the budget and reporting to National KOTESOL, among other things. If you want to learn some new skills and become more involved in your Chapter, please consider running for one of these positions.
What do you need to do?
First check that you meet the Eligibility Requirements:
● Candidates for President must have served on the current Chapter Executive Committee continuously for the past six months, be a current KOTESOL member and have been a member of Seoul Chapter continuously for the past six months.
● Candidates for 1st Vice-President must be a current member of KOTESOL and must have been a member of the Seoul Chapter continuously for the past six months.
● Candidates for Secretary or Treasurer must be a current KOTESOL member and must have been a member of the Seoul Chapter continuously for the past three months.
You can nominate yourself and others by completing a nominations form (see the attached document) and:
1. Sending it in an email to the Elections Officer at tthorkelson@yahoo.ca
2. Sending it by regular mail to the Elections Officer, Tory Thorkelson, at:

South Korea
There are a number of appointed positions on the Executive. These include Membership Officer, Publicity Chair, Workshop Coordinator, Webmaster, Hospitality Coordinator, and ASK Editor. Some of these positions will become vacant at the end of March. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact Stafford Lumsden at president@seoulkotesol.org .
Nominations close at midnight on Friday 21st of March, 2014. Written nominations with a post stamp before this date will still be accepted. Any nominations received after this date will be discarded and the candidate will only be able to run as a ‘write-in’. Being a ‘write-in’ candidate means that your name will not appear on the ballot (so people have to write your name in) and you will have to gain at least 20 (twenty) votes to be elected. In addition, a ‘write-in’ candidate must still meet the eligibility requirements as stated above.
All candidates will have the opportunity to make a personal statement in writing. This personal statement must fit onto A4 paper and will be made available to all voters on election day at the voting table.
