Membership in the KOTESOL National Council evolves over several phases:
- National elections
- Chapter elections
- Council appointments
National election outcomes were announced at the Annual Business Meeting October 13th, and on this site that same day. Chapter elections take place at various local meetings throughout the year (many occur in November). Each chapter's president has a vote on the national council.
Appointed Committee Chairs are nominated by the president and approved by the sitting council of the time. By custom, the term of office for appointed committee chairs is "at the pleasure of the president." Standing committees are based on the Bylaws or determination of the council. (Ad-hoc committees and other non-voting council members may be appointed by the president.)
