He holds a Master's degree in TESOL and several related certifications, and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Technology at Boise State University, where his research focuses on AI literacy frameworks for Korean pre-service elementary teachers.

His approach emphasizes project-based learning, the Community of Inquiry framework, and reflective practice to help teachers understand how AI can support—not replace—meaningful pedagogy.

He currently teaches at Chuncheon National University of Education and Kangwon National University, where his courses include "Integrating AI in Elementary Education," "English Conversation and Intercultural Communication," and General English. As a long-time member of Korea TESOL, Michael has served as program chair and has been recognized as a top 30 contributor in the organization's 30-year history. He serves as EdTech consultant for the Korea TESOL International Conference and regularly leads professional development workshops throughout Asia on technology-enhanced language learning, AI integration frameworks, and curriculum design. Notably, he has co-developed tech-integrated learning modules and teacher training programs that have shaped professional practice across the region.
