Jeonju North Jeolla KOTESOL are excited to announce our final workshop of the semester which will be held on on Saturday, June 11th from 2:45pm - 5:00pm in Jeonju University, Star Center, Room 201.
This meeting will offer some very engaging and hands-on professional development, allow you to meet our welcoming and enthusiastic team and network with other enthusiastic teachers/educators. We will finish the session with a prize draw followed by dinner and drinks at a nearby restaurant.

Melody Peters
TPR in the EFL classroom
Although TPR is predominantly used for younger learners, all levels and grades can benefit from it. In this talk, practical information on the topic will be shared along with demonstrations on teaching vocabulary, questions, phonics and grammar using movement. If you are looking for ways to make your EFL classroom in Korea more exciting, and effective, this talk is for you. Learn ways to instantly engage your students and help them to memorize key English concepts which lays a firm foundation for further use in real situations and conversations.
Bio: Melody Peters, is currently an EFL teacher on the tiny island of Geomundo off the coast of Yeosu. Originally from South Africa, Melody worked in HR in London before moving to Korea to pursue teaching. Currently in her 8th year as an EFL teacher, she has spent years working out more effective ways to teach English to Korean students. She has a passion for finding the best ways possible to transfer information to students in a way that both engages their attention and brings joy to learning English as a second language.

Presenter 1: Daniel Kilduff
Warmup
Daniel will present a warmup that he likes to do with his students called Say the Same Thing. It's a simple activity that gets your students thinking in English and laughing in the first 10 minutes, which, in turn, can really set a great tone for the rest of the class. No matter what warmup you use, he advises you to incorporate one into your lessons.

How to Explain the Use of Be and Do Verbs in Simple Questions and Answers to Korean Students
Marli will demonstrate how to use ‘be’ and ‘do’ verbs in simple questions and answers. She will also share with you, a little trick that she uses to help students ask and answer questions correctly.

Tying it All Together
Pauline Kilduff will be discussing four reading activities that are often used in the classroom. For a spin on a common approach, come and observe how these tasks can be used separately, or sequenced as a series of activities or lessons.
