About the theme:
In a time when artificial intelligence is becoming powerful, stiflingly traditional approaches still dominate many language classrooms, and the future feels uncertain in many ways, language education professionals focused on humanistic and student-centered teaching might wonder where exactly they fit in. These could be called 'postnormal times', defined by Ziauddin Sardar (2010) as "an in-between period where old orthodoxies are dying, new ones have yet to be born, and very few things seem to make sense." We hope that this conference will give language teachers and other language education professionals a space to come together, connect, reflect, and hopefully make some sense of English language teaching in 2023!
