Peace Education in Theory and Practice, with Prof. Kevin Kester
This presentation will overview the field of peace education (PE) theory and practice around the world. The talk is organized into six sections. The first section outlines a brief history of PE in the 20th and 21st centuries. The second section provides an overview of various contents and methods of PE through examining some common international normative documents. The third section discusses the influence of various cultural orientations on the different philosophical approaches to PE, and the fourth translates the history, philosophy, and concepts of PE into practical activities for teachers and teacher-trainers. Before concluding, the fifth section reviews four successful cases of PE around the world. Finally, the talk will conclude with a discussion of some new pedagogic possibilities emerging for PE today.
Our presenter is returning to present for our chapter for the second time. We'll let Prof. Kester introduce himself.
