As a carry over from Yongin's 2019 Chapter Conference, this theme is always a way to spark engagement, discussion, and interest. It is true for teachers and learners. How do we create lessons for the most impact? How do we plan for our finals and the end of the first semester now that we have had a chance to be "fully online" for the last couple months? Joins us for exploring some possible answers.

From Wayne, the abstract:

Gaze up at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and your mind will be mesmerized by the majesty of Michelangelo’s creation. “A design for the ages!” “A masterpiece with no parallel!” “A work of utter genius!” The Renaissance artist’s frescoes inspire awe and wonder in everyone who sees them. Recognition of beautiful design seems to be built into our DNA. In this Zoom workshop, we’re not just going to see great design... we’re going to crack the Michelangelo code and bring it to our classrooms!

There are few professions like teaching. Think about it: what are the top ten qualities of an exemplary educator? Ask a hundred different teachers and you might hear a hundred different answers. Communication skills. Critical thinking skills. The ability to adapt. One that all teachers can agree on is the ability to design and create. Every day, we make lesson plans, design tests and create materials. We are designers by nature and the way we design has the power to inspire students the world over.

Join us on Zoom as we uncover some of the secrets of design! You might not paint the next Sistine Chapel, but you’ll certainly bring real artistry into your classroom.

Bio

Wayne Finley’s passion for teaching is really a love of creativity. There’s nothing better than making a lesson plan with your own materials and then bringing it to life in the classroom. A writer has to wait to be published, a painter has to wait for an exhibition, a teacher only has to wait until the next class. Art becoming instant reality. Wayne’s flair for design is currently seen at Korea Polytechnic University as a teacher, and in Korea TESOL as the National Publicity Chair and KTT Coordinator.

In addition Wayne truly enjoys the opportunity to promote the ongoing efforts of KOTESOL and we would be negligent if we didn't mention his awareness of overworking oneself
