DCC 2022 Online Workshop Series: Michael Griffin

Presenter: Michael Griffin
Date and Time: Weds Feb 23rd, 8pm - 9pm.
Presentation:  Kick-starting Your Professional Development in 2022

Abstract: This interactive session will focus on giving practicing teachers ideas and considerations for their own professional development plans in 2022 and beyond. Through exploring their previous experiences with professional development and analyzing their professional development needs, participants will create criteria for potential professional development activities for use in their own contexts and careers. Then, through examining a range of professional development activities (some new, some tried and tested, some thought-provoking, some slightly ridiculous) participants will apply their criteria and consider how certain activities could be applied. Participants can expect to walk away with ideas and action plans for their own professional development as well as key questions and potential challenges to consider.

Presenter Info: After nearly 10 years at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Michael Griffin currently lives in Ho Chi Minh City and works online and offline as a teacher, trainer, and consultant. He started his TESOL career in 2000 in South Korea, teaching students of all ages. He began teacher training and trainer-training in 2009, becoming an SIT Licensed trainer in 2010. Michael has an MATESOL from the New School and he’s taught Curriculum Development, Writing ESOL Materials, and the Portfolio course on the New School’s MATESOL program. Co-founder of KOTESOL’s Reflective Practice SIG, he has given numerous presentations focused on reflective practice. Michael frequently works with World Learning on the US State Department's OPEN program for teachers around the world.

We're really lucky to have Michael presenting for us; he used to be a regular fixture at KOTESOL events before he moved to Vietnam (he even threatened to deliver the workshop while on the beach... not that we're jealous or anything...). Anyone who's seen him present can attest to how useful, engaging and thought-provoking his talks always are. We're really lucky to have him and we hope that you'll take the opportunity to help plan your professional development with him for the coming year.

As usual, the event is free to DCC chapter members, but please make sure you register here first: https://forms.gle/muU3chxSrLQ5hxqJ8

Registration will close on Monday 21st February (two days before the workshop).
