We are scheduling an informal round table discussion for January instead of a regular presentation because it falls within the vacation schedule. Three chapter members have volunteered to lead discussions for this event. They will introduce their topics give a short presentation the open the floor for conversation. Listed Below are the conversation topics and presenter bios.
Topic 1: Teaching to Korean EFL Students' Needs presented by Julian Warmington
Julian Warmington is from Aotearoa - New Zealand. He was trained for general education in NZ, where he specialized in teaching in a second language. He has now taught at the Korean university level for twelve years.
Topic 2: Dogme and Materials-light Teaching presented by Jenni Payne
Jenni Payne has been teaching English since 2011 in Germany, Prague, and now Korea. She has been in Busan since July this year and works as Head Foreign Teacher at Allak KJC, teaching elementary students. However, most of her previous experience is with teaching adults, including general English, business English and EAP. Most of her free time is currently spent studying for her Trinity DipTESOL, running, or convincing people to sing karaoke with her.
Topic 3: Graphic Organizers for Aiding Discussion presented by Aaron Shayne
Aaron Shayne has been living in Korea for five years. He is a professor at Silla University in Busan. Before arriving in Busan in August 2014, Aaron was a professor at Cheongju National University of Education in Chungbuk province. He has taught English conversation, essay writing, public speaking, debate, and teacher certification courses. Aaron has his masters in education with a focus on ESOL.
