• Passionate advocate of learning from study abroad by conviction and experience.
• Inveterate joiner: notably, JALT, JALT's Bilingualism SIG, JALT's Brain SIG, JALT's Study Abroad SIG, FEELTA (an association of colleagues in the Russian Far East), and SIETAR (Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research)
• Recovering administrator: For a brief period I served as a department head, head of admissions, vice president, and president of my university
• I do a lot of editing work, including a couple of journals.
