Dr. Ian Done D. Ramos is a professor in the Department of English and Literature at the University of Suwon. He completed his doctorate in English language teaching (EdD ELT) and also has a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL), a Special Education diploma in Learning Disabilities (SpEd LD), and a Bachelor of Secondary Education in English (BSEd-English). With more than a dozen years of experience in English language teaching, Dr. Ramos has a broad understanding on how the teaching-learning process works to support the language needs of individuals. Most of his training was at Silliman University, the oldest American university in the Philippines.
At present, he teaches English language and literature courses for both graduate and undergraduate programs in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Suwon. He is also the faculty head of the foreign faculty in the department. His main academic interests are in language curriculum and materials development, language assessment and testing, teaching methodology, English for specific purposes (ESP), sociolinguistics, and educational research. In these areas, he has presented various papers at international academic conferences and published internationally as well.
Besides teaching, he is the president of the Seoul KOTESOL Chapter. His monthly tasks are to evaluate materials of prospective speakers for the chapter's workshops and to organize a chapter professional development event for teachers in Korea. Email: president@seoulkotesol.org
